What’s a radio control helicopter or airplane for a 4 year old?
My 4 year old son really wants an airplane or helicopter this year for Christmas. I remember a couple of years ago seeing on TV this helicopter, or was it an airplane, that was safe for someone in his age group to fly indoors. I think the blades may have been made of styrofoam. I can’t seem to find out what it is anywhere and would really love to get this for my son, if anyone knows what this is it would be great.
I have bought all kinds of those RC for my boys through the ages of 4 to 8. For my boys, they did not work. I am talking about the ones made of compressed styrofoam. They break to easy. The helicopter, they wanted to press the control to the highest level as most kids do and it would hit the ceiling then crash down. They did not break, but i put them up and took them back, because I am sure after a period of time they would. You have to be able to control the speed and that is hard for a little one, they just want to press the button full speed. I had bought a hover disc, and when they played that outside, it would get in the trees on even on the roof, and because it fell from a high place, it did end of breaking. I would reconsider.

Hi B,
I have purchased many different RC helicopters, from toy level helis to full hobby level. None of those are going to work for a 4 year old.
We DID get my nephew, about 3 at the time, a remote control flying saucer. Somewhat like a helicopter, it could hover, go up and go down.
Here are links to the type of toy I am talking about.

My nephew had a ton of fun. He ran it up to the ceiling, let it spin around for a while, and then let it crash to the floor. The foam construction means that it does not hurt itself, your furniture or even little fingers. He wold set it upright on the floor, and start flying again.
Good luck!
